Innovative horizontal dryer for the food industry

BHS has successfully delivered a horizontal vacuum dryer that was manufactured to customer specifications for a demanding application in the food industry. Several process steps can be combined in this machine. It sets new standards in terms of flexibility, hygiene and performance. The dryer is designed for three-shift operation and can process product batches of up to 7500 liters.

Highest hygiene standards: GMP-compliant design

The mixing dryer is designed in a special GMP version that meets the high requirements of food processing. The welded, low-dead space mixing unit is heated and provides additional heat input. This significantly reduces drying times.

The package is completed by a GMP discharge flap developed by BHS. This minimizes the accumulation of residues on the flap and simplifies cleaning when changing batches. All product-contacting seals on the device are suitable for food processing.

Efficient cleaning with WIP system

Thanks to the special WIP (washing in place) equipment, the cleanability of the mixer dryer is significantly improved. The WIP system enables cleaning without the customer's personnel having to get into the machine. The system downtime and the workload of the personnel are thus reduced. This saves time and costs and at the same time ensures that the machine is optimally cleaned after each use.

Superior drying even of highly viscous products

The machine is designed for the efficient drying of highly viscous, doughy products. Four integrated choppers ensure that the product is optimally broken down. This significantly shortens the processing time. The mixer shape and speed specially adapted to the product always produce optimal mixing and product homogeneity.

Multiple process steps in one machine

The dryer makes it possible to combine several process steps such as mixing, reacting and vacuum drying in just one machine. This not only saves space in production, but also optimizes the process sequences and increases overall efficiency. The machine is very flexible and can therefore handle a wide range of products. Even if changes are made to the product itself or the process, these can be implemented at a later date.
