BHS twin-shaft batch mixers of type DKX 2,00

Indian civil engineering and road construction company Atlas Technologies aims to take road construction to a new level. For building two asphalt mixing plants in the states of Punjab and Rajasthan, the company decided to incorporate two twin-shaft batch mixers of type DKX 2,00 from BHS-Sonthofen.

Asphalt is a highly sought-after construction material – with an estimated 120 million tons used worldwide each year. The demand for efficient machinery for asphalt processing is correspondingly high. Ranging from asphalt plants to asphalt drum mixers and asphalt batch mixing plants, Atlas Technologies combines traditional construction methods in Indian road building with innovative technologies in its modern product portfolio. Its clientele includes road construction companies in India as well as customers from Southeast Asia and Africa. Since its founding in 2014, the mechanical engineering company has been using BHS twin-shaft batch mixers for ambitious high-volume projects. Atlas values BHS-Sonthofen as a supplier of reliable and robust mixers for processing construction materials.

For its new asphalt batch mixing plants with a production capacity of 260 tons per hour, BHS-Sonthofen modified the twin-shaft batch mixer of type DKX 2,00 to meet the specific operating conditions of asphalt mixing. The ability to process the raw material at high temperatures of 160 to 180°C poses a particularly challenging task in terms of mixer design. BHS added a heat-resistant coating to meet the high temperature requirements of the construction material. Additionally, the modified mixer for asphalt features a higher mixing intensity than concrete mixers. Due to the high throughput at low speeds, the mixing time is shorter – a significant advantage that reduces overall wear and energy consumption.

Since October 2021, both modified BHS twin-shaft batch mixers of type DKX 2,00 have been installed at Atlas Technologies and are already producing asphalt – delivering convincing results across the board. As a result, Atlas will continue to rely on mixers from BHS-Sonthofen in the future.
